This snowman, who was nicknamed “Frosty”, is nostalgic for me. It belonged to my parents and my memory of it goes way back into my childhood. It is one of those things from the past that I cherish having now. It evokes in me that feeling of youthful joy I had at this time of the year. And that comes from my mom’s love for Christmas. The Christmas holiday season was her favorite time of the year and she loved to share her holiday spirit with everyone around her.

What a wild and whacky year 2024 has been. And didn’t the year fly by fast? It’s been fun sharing my images with you over the past year. And, I look forward to sharing more images with you again next year. I wish a Merry Christmas to everyone. May all of the upcoming holidays be filled with peace, hope and love!

It’s rare when I look at an image and can think of a certain purpose for it. But I immediately did when I saw this image. I think that it wants to be on the front of a Christmas card. It may be a little quirky, but that might not be a bad thing.

I also rarely stage a scene, but I did it for this image. I placed this old family outdoor Christmas decoration in front of our Christmas tree for the shoot. My preferred method of image taking is to make use of the original lighting source on the subject. But that was not an option with this image. The lighting was all wrong and the shadows were just too deep. I had to utilize overhead lights and floor lamps to create adequate lighting. And I needed the help from my “volunteer” assistant Dottie, tilting a floor lamp to just that, “Right there, hold it!” angle to get it perfect. Doing the “McGuiver” thing makes one appreciate what having the right tools for the right job means.
