In this image you can see all the stages of flowering on this cluster of pear blossoms. The not-ready-to-open blooms are wrapped tight in petals of a soft pink shade. The pink is softly fading to white and the stamens are purple as the blooms start to open. And finally we have the fully opened blossoms of white that we are familiar with.

The subtle coloring on display in this cluster of pear flowers made this a powerful image for me. It showed me how unaware I was of all this beauty for all of these years. I had always only looked at these white flowering trees and was content with that as a whole. I know now not to take the natural world for granted like that again.

I have also looked at this image and have made an allegory to our existence as well. We change throughout our lifetime as well. We grow and change physically, mentally, and spiritually from childhood, through adolescence, and on into adulthood just like the pear bloom changes as it opens into a blossom. And yet, are we not still the same blossom from start to finish? Such was the power of this image on me.

Depending on how an image gets its power depends on who is looking at that image. We each bring our own perspective while viewing things. I expect no one to be moved by this image like I was. But I do hope that the beauty captured is enjoyed. Because on its base level this image perfectly displays the excitement of life reawakening from its winter slumber in a beautiful way. Cheers to all of the April showers and may our hearts and souls share in the renewal of life happening all around us.

With Spring having just arrived I was looking to capture a nice flower image to use for April. Each spring pear trees bloom and become covered in a cloud of white blossoms. So for this month we are going to get up close to enjoy the subtle beauty of the pear blossoms themselves.
